Financial Aid for Canadian Citizens

Financial assistance is available to the local students of Canada through their own province. If you are a permanent resident of Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, then apply for an integrated loan. The integrated loan is managed by the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC).

 If you are a permanent resident of Alberta, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, then apply for a Canada Student Loan through your own territory. The loan is managed by NSLSC.

If you are a permanent resident of the Yukon, then you shall apply for a Canada Student Loan through your own territory. The loan is managed by NSLSC.

If you are a permanent resident of Quebec, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, you will receive student financial assistance only from your provincial or territorial government as these jurisdictions don't participate in the Canada Student Loans Program.

Grants

  • Students from low-income families
    It is the grant for students from low Income Families and the grant includes $250 per month for the undergraduate studies.
    Eligibility: The candidate must be from a low-income household as defined by the Canada Student Loans Program and enrolled in a full-time program that is at least of 2 years at a post-secondary institution.

  • Students from Middle-Income families
    The Canada Student Grant for Students from Middle-Income Families is a grant that provides $100 per month of study.
    Eligibility: The eligibility criteria for this include that the candiadate must be from a middle income family and must be enrolled in a full time program that is atleast of two years at a post secondary institution. He/she should as well demonstrate their financial need.

  • Grant for Part-Time Studies
    The Canada Student Grant for Part-Time Studies is a government grant of $1,200 each year for students enrolled in a part-time undergraduate or graduate program that is at least 12 weeks long within a 15-week period at a designated post-secondary institution.
    Eligibility: The candidate must qualify for student financial assistance, must be from low-income family and enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program of at least 12 weeks long at a designated post-secondary institution.

  • Students with permanent disabilities
    It is a grant of $2,000 each school year (August 1 to July 31). This grant is for the studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    Eligibility: You must be qualified for student financial assistance, be enrolled in a full-time or part-time program at a post-secondary institution, meet the criteria for students with permanent disabilities and include one of the following with your loan application as proof of your disability: a medical certificate, a psycho-educational assessment, or documents that prove you have received federal or provincial permanent disability assistance.
